FIRE SAFETY OFFICER
Duties and Responsibilities
Regularly monitor the fire and life safety system to ensure all working in good conditions
Patrolling the site regularly and check the following equipment
Fire alarm systems & firefighting systems
Technical premises: Electrical, heating & ventilation, UPS & LMR etc. other areas for fire safety issues
The presence of obstacles could block the automated fire doors & emergency access
Accumulation of combustible materials, Equipment’s.
Attend the fire alarm cases immediately with in the SLA
Witness functional fire alarm test for the buildings by checking all the C & E are working appropriately or not, if not record and report the faults.
Monitoring the fire and life safety systems in a daily basis
Extinguishers the fire immediately using the building firefighting systems, portable extinguishers, fire hose reel and fire truck
Surveillance and inspection of FLS system during adverse weather conditions and to report all the issues.
Surveillance and inspections of specific zones (delivery area, entrances and exits of buildings, entrances and exits, exterior access)
Surveillance and inspections of fire load present in non-sprinklered spaces.
Surveillance and inspection of fire load present in rooms with AFGSS (Automatic Fire Gas Suppression System).
Participate in Mock drills.
Provide FLS system basic training to contractors
Facilitate FLS system Isolation and ensure system is back to normal after completion of work.
Weekly and monthly Inspections and checks of all the fire safety related equipment such as Fire Extinguishers,
Fire hose reels, Fire hydrants, AFGSS, Fire Curtains & Fire Shutters, Fire Telephones, Fire Vehicles, Fire Alarm systems and Vesda systems to ensure maintaining in working condition.
Monitoring the fire safety issues during the special events (receptions, inaugurations, conferences etc.)
Service provision in the event of fire & safety systems activation, fire, theft, water ingress, natural disaster, accidents, illness, falls
Required Knowledge and Skills
03-05 years of overall experience in FM industry similar or large projects, airports, hospitals and large malls as fire alarm and firefighting technician or supervisor. Museum experience is highly preferable
Minimum 02 years of experience in inspection, testing and maintenance of fire alarm and fire protection system
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Knowledge in safety management
Knowledge in preparation of Fire Risk Assessment.
Good knowledge of Fire alarm system, Vesda system, Fire fighting systems, Sprinkler system, gaseous suppression system & aspirating detection system
Fire prevention program
Ability to lead a team and work accurately
Well organized and time management
Required Qualifications
Minimum diploma/industrial training in engineering
Fire prevention and fighting course
Advanced firefighting course or Civil Defence approved advance firefighting training
IOSH/NEBOSH, H&S at work course/OSHA 30 Hr preferred.
